From the CEO and Founder of the 545th MP Co. Association
If you are now or intend to be a member of
the 545th Military Police Company Association and enjoy our web site
as much as I do please send a donation. It costs money to operate and maintain this site. Not
only did we have to pay to have it set up, but it costs money to keep
it up and running. The domain name cost us. The attorney
does work for us on a “PRO BONO” basis, but he too has expenses
and fees have to be paid to register the association and obtain a tax
exempt status. There are many out there who have no computer and
they must have their rosters and other association information snail
mailed to them so the US Postal service also needs money. Now we discover
that in order to obtain a tax exempt status, we also need an accountant. Our
veteran “Jar Head” attorney recommended an ex Air Force Accountant
that will work for us at cost since he too likes our site and is very
patriotic, but he also has expenses and needs a few dollars now and then. Then
there are the ink jet cartridges and envelopes and tons of other little
things that it requires to keep us up and running. Our Web Master
is an ex Navy Master Chief that is doing this for us at an extremely
good price because it is a labor of love for him. He could have
easily charged us $2,500 or more for his fantastic work, but no – he
too is doing it basically at cost. I own and operate a small mom
and pop construction company and am always out of pocket for this project
and I don’t mind it at all, but a little help now and then would
be greatly appreciated. So – the next time you reach in your
pocket for change for a newspaper or cigarettes or a pack of gum and
discover that you have $4.00 or $5.00 worth of change jingling around
in there, ask the cashier to turn that change into bills and put them
in an envelope and mail them to me. When you rub off those numbers
and discover that you’ve won $25.00 in the lottery – send
$5.00 of it for the association. Don’t mortgage the farm
or sell the house, just send what you can easily afford. How about
that penny jar or drawer at work? Roll up those pennies and turn
them in for bills and send them to our association.
COME ON DOWN – LETS MAKE A DEAL! You give me what’s
behind the curtain and I’ll keep our great site up and running!
There are other expenses as well – I’ve mailed out 14 different
operating system CD’s in one week alone so that some of our members
could up grade their computers to be able to open their rosters and other
documents the association sends out on a regular basis. None of
these items alone is very costly, but add them all up and it is sometimes
a considerable amount. I’ve mailed out books and photos
that were loaned to the association for their 545th content and historical
value, The National Archives wants money for some photos of the 545th
in WW II as well as other historical documents pertaining to our beloved
unit.
So – let’s dig down to the lint in the bottom of our pockets
and send in those nickels and quarters. You active duty MP’s – when
you’re at the club at happy hour put the price of one beer aside
for the association and you’ll walk out of the club a little
more sober than you would have.
You old-timers remember the old 1st Sergeants
bowl in the pay line for the unit slush fund. Well – its payday and you have drawn
your pay and it’s now time to contribute to the slush fund! Only
this money is not going for Bourbon to put in the coffee urn in the mess
hall! (Those were the days) Or – to buy curtains for the day room!
It’s to keep our site and our association up and running!
We’ve got the best damned web site on the internet for the best
damned MP Company in the US Army up and running – now lets keep
it up and running! Send your donations to:
